In this edition: updates on the Clapham manhunt, Brianna Ghey’s killers named, sentencing in Ryan Watson case
The manhunt for Abdul Shokoor Ezedi continues into its ninth day.
Since my last update, the following has been announced by the police (source):
The suspect and the mother he attacked were previously in a relationship which was known to have broken down; he is not the father of the children
The suspect arranged a meeting with the victim and her children before the attack
A £20,000 reward has been put up for any information leading to his arrest
Police believe that he is either being hidden by a third party or has come to some harm - in either case, the facial injury to his right eye could prove fatal
Ezedi has a previous UK criminal record of sexual offences (assault and exposure) but was granted asylum after converting to Christianity
He is believed to have travelled to the UK via lorry in 2016, from his home country of Afghanistan
The mother remains sedated in hospital and is likely to lose the sight in her right eye; the two children have been discharged from hospital and are recovering
Ezedi’s car was found near the scene after crashing. He then boarded a train at Clapham South Underground, moved to King’s Cross Underground via a stop at Tesco for a bottle of water, and then Tower Hill. The last reported sighting on Tube CCTV shows him leaving Tower Hill Underground Station.
After leaving the station, he was seen on various CCTV cameras walking around London, ending up on Grovesnor Road, where the trail seems to have been lost
The substance thrown over the victims was either liquid sodium hydroxide or liquid sodium carbonate, per lab analysis
The suspect’s home, workplaces, and other properties in Newcastle and London have been searched extensively, with images released of containers for corrosive substances found on those properties
The suspect’s home was in Newcastle. He travelled to London on the day of the attack
One 22-year-old male has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of aiding an offender; no further details have been released at this point
Ezedi’s bank card has not been used since the night of the attack
Police admit they have no idea where Ezedi is now
Again, if you see Ezedi, call 999 or contact the incident room directly on 0207 175 27841.
That’s all for today. Please provide any tips or updates you wish to see included in future updates in the comments, and like this post if you want to see more like it.
